The Embassy of Nepal, Muscat organized a program "Tea with Ambassador" at Beach Hotel in Sohar city of the Sultanate of Oman on 17 April 2018.
Sohar is a port city on Oman’s northern coast and the largest city of the Al Batinah North Governorate in Oman which is around 205 km far from Muscat. Facing the Gulf of Oman, the centuries-old Sohar port houses a museum exploring the city’s cultural and trading past. Sizable numbers of Nepalese are also working in Sohar. The program was organized in Sohar to have interaction with the Nepali community there.
The official program commenced with the playing of the national anthem of the 17 April 2018 Sultanate of Oman and Nepal. Ms. Afrah Al Sheraiqi, an embassy staff, welcomed the communities.
Her Excellency Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal received the appreciations and queries presented by Nepali communities and assured them regarding the role of Nepal Embassy for protection and promotion of the welfare of the Nepali nationals residing and working in the Sultanate of Oman. H.E. Dhakal appreciated and thanked the community for their commendable works. H.E. Dhakal also informed the community on various activities being performed by the embassy to enhance the bilateral relations between Nepal and Oman. H.E. Dhakal thanked members of NRNA-RCC Sohar for coordinating the event & expressed her gratitude to Beach Hotel Sohar for the warm hospitality.
Earlier the same day, H.E. Ambassador was welcomed and received by Mr. Mark Geilenkrichen, CEO of Sohar Port/Free Zone & Mr. Jamal Aziz, DCEO of Sohar Industrial Port Company/ Free Zone. H.E. Ambassador and Mr. Geilenkrichen discussed various avenues for cooperation between Nepal-Oman; expressed the desire to share each other's experiences; build the strong relationship between both the countries and enhance people to people contact. Her Excellency informed and explained Nepal's concept of Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
Sohar Free Zone has attracted global investment of US $25billion and is one of the fastest growing Free Zone in the world.
Mr. Bimal Dhakal, Spouse of the Ambassador was also present in the program.
