Biography of Her Excellency Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal

Ambassador of Nepal to the Sultanate of Oman

H.E. Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal assumes the responsibility of Ambassador Designate of Nepal to the Sultanate of Oman since 24 May 2017. She was appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nepal to the Sultanate of Oman by the Government of Nepal on February 20, 2017. She has a substantial experience in institutionalization of business, investment promotion and entrepreneurship with a sound academic foundation.

H.E. Dhakal was born on 28 October 1980 in Jhapa, Nepal. She is married to Mr. Bimal Dhakal who owns business in various sectors such as trade, tourism, agriculture, energy, health, education, literature etc. They have one daughter Bashana Dhakal.

Her inclination towards social service, charity and leadership, since the early age, has motivated her to opt for business and entrepreneurship through which she has been able to establish herself in the field of her interests. She has generated employment, developed leadership and worked for the people through her personal efforts. With the inspiration of her family and surroundings,she started her career herself since early age and has gained wide experience in the arena of business and entrepreneurship.

She was a chairperson of her own business entity “Carefare Pvt. Ltd” with an extensive business area around the globe. Prior to her ambassadorial appointment, she served as a Vice-President of Nepal-Dubai Business Council, which is a joint council of entrepreneurs of Nepal and Dubai, based in Dubai and is recognized by Dubai Chamber of Commerce.  She has also participated in a number of international conferences and visited more than 20 countries including USA, UK, Australia, India and Singapore.

Besides, she is equally inclined to education and literature. She served as a Vice-President of Himalaya School & College, one of the highly prestigious colleges of Nepal. She is a Ph.D. candidate from Nepal Sanskrit University. Her research interest is in representation of women in the Vedas and the Bible and holds Master’s Degree in Humanities & Social Science (English Literature) from Tribhuvan University, Nepal.

She also has completed her graduation foundation and post-graduation (Organization behavior) in business studies from Wollongong University, Dubai.

Her Excellency Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal was honored with ‘Suprabal Jana Shewa Shree’ Medal forPublic Service by Rt. Honorable Mrs Bidya Devi Bhandari, the President of Nepal, on 14thApril 2019, on a special occasion held at the office of the Rt.Hon. President.
