H. E. Dornath Aryal
Ambassador of Nepal to the Sultanate of Oman

His Excellency Dornath Aryal assumed his responsibilities as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nepal to the Sultanate of Oman on 21 July 2022.
Before taking over as the Ambassador of Nepal to the Sultanate of Oman, he served as Director General at the Department of Passport, Ministry of Foreign Affairs from November 2020 to July 2022 handling various passport matters. He also successfully handled the new Project of e-Passport during this period. Prior to that Mr. Aryal worked as Director General, Department of Consular Services, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from September 2019 to October 2020. He served as Minister Counsellor/Deputy Chief of Mission/Head of Chancery at the Embassy of Nepal, Denmark from May 2017 to September 2019.
Mr. Aryal worked as Minister Counsellor/Deputy Permanent Representative of Nepal to the UN-ESCAP at the Embassy of Nepal, Bangkok from June 2011 to July 2015. During the same period Mr. Aryal worked as Chargé d’Affaires a.i. from December 2011 to January 2015.
He worked as First Secretary, at the Embassy of Nepal, Denmark from May 2007 to September 2009 and Consul at the Consulate General of Nepal, Lhasa, TAR, China from March 2001 to December 2005.
He was Under Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Organizations Division, Central Passport Office, United Nations, International Organizations and International Law Division and Protocol Division. Prior to this he worked as Section Officer in different Divisions.
Academic Qualifications:
Mr. Aryal holds Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from Purbanchal University, Nepal and Masters of Business Administration (MBA), Bachelor of Law (B.L.) and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), (Economics) from Tribhuvan University Nepal.
International Conferences/Meetings:
While working at the Embassy of Nepal in Thailand in the capacity of Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Mr. Aryal had the opportunity to take part in several high-level conferences/meetings as a leader of Nepali delegation including Connect Asia-Pacific Summit, November 2013, Thailand, Health Ministers’ Meeting, Thailand, Energy Ministers’ Meeting, Thailand and other several high-level meetings.
Mr. Aryal participated as a member of Nepali delegation in the SAARC Inter-Summit Session in Pokhara, Nepal in March 2016, 2nd Asia-Pacific Water Summit, Thailand, 2013, 65th United Nations General Assembly, New York, September 2010, 61st United Nations General Assembly, New York, September 2006, 14th NAM Summit, Havana, Cuba, September, 2006, 13th SAARC Summit, Dhaka, Bangladesh, 2005. Asia-Africa Summit, Jakarta, Indonesia, 2005, Boao Forum for Asia, 2005, World Summit on the Information Society, Tunisia, 2005.
Mr. Aryal took part in different diplomatic and other trainings including Peace Mediation and Crisis Diplomacy in Action: New Dynamics for Stable Stalemates’ Berlin, Germany, 22-27 April 2018, First Executive Seminar for Diplomats from Asia & Pacific, Berlin, Germany (August 8, 2008 to September 14, 2008), Professional Course for Foreign Diplomats, Foreign Service Institute, Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, India (March 2, 2000 to April 14 2000), Japanese Language/Culture Training, Japan Foundation, Japanese Language Institute, Osaka, Japan (October 1998 to June 1999). He took part in a number of trainings conducted by Nepal Administrative Staff College, Institute of Foreign Affairs, Nepal and other training institutions.
Decoration/Medal: Suprabal Janasewasri (3rd Class) by Rt. Hon. Bidya Devi Bhandari, President of Nepal, 2022, Disaster Relief Medal by the then Prime Minister of Nepal, 1992.
Books/Publications:
Mr. Aryal has published books and a number of articles. He is a co-author of Diplomatic Dealings, 2009.

Married to Swodesh Marasini and they have a daughter- Lisasri and a son- Nobalsri.
