PRESS RELEASE
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, The Embassy of Nepal, Muscat organized Financial and Labour Awareness Programme in collaboration with Oman based Nepali organizations, Bank and Financial Institutions at Nepal House on 08 March 2024 from 15:00 hrs to 18:00 hrs. More than 100 persons attended the program from Nepali Community including representatives from Bank Dhofar, Lulu Exchange, NMB Bank, Himalayan Bank and other organizations. The main motto of the event was to disseminate information related to several aspects of Financial Awareness and Labour awareness as a part of celebration of the International Women’s Day.
The program commenced with lighting of traditional Panas lamp by H.E. Dornath Aryal, Ambassador of Nepal to the Sultanate of Oman. During the welcome speech, Ambassador Aryal thanked to the participants and expressed sincere gratitude to the representatives from different bank and financial institutions for their support in organizing the program. Ambassador Aryal highlighted the importance of financial knowledge in managing the hard-earned money for better future. He further stressed upon the awareness related to local laws of Oman for better livelihood among the Nepalis and requested to follow all the Do’s and Don’ts in Oman. He opined that all the Nepalis working in Oman must understand the norms of Nepal and Oman and should use legal channels for finding job opportunities and sending remittance.
A brief presentation was made by Mr. Bishesh Kumar Sah, Second Secretary informing Passport and Consular services provided by the Embassy and Telemedicine Services being provided by Department of Foreign Employment Nepal. Mr. Gobinda Prasad Acharya presented on various important matters related to Labour Awareness. Mr. Ram Binay Ray highlighted the Do’s and Don’ts to be followed in Oman and a presentation on Social Security Scheme of Nepal was presented digitally from the official of Social Security Fund based in Kathmandu. The representatives from Bank Dhofar, Lulu Exchange, NMB Bank and Himalayan Bank presented on various aspects of Financial Awareness such as Safe Banking Practices, how to avoid banking frauds, Safe remittance channels, Benefits of Remittances, opening of IPO Remit account by migrant Nepali workers, Demat Account and benefits of investing in stock markets IPO and many more.
After the presentations, H.E. Ambassador highlighted how the Women’s Day celebration came into effect and how it has changed the livelihood of women in Nepal as well as worldwide as a message on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Representatives from different Nepali Organizations in Oman also shared their views about celebrating this special day. Prabashi Nepali Manch, Oman and Jan Pragatisheel Manch, Oman handed over 2 paintings to the Embassy to be placed at appropriate locations.
All the participants were provided snacks and refreshments during the event. The Event was live on Facebook page for those who could not physically attend. The Program was conducted by Mr. Gobinda Prasad Acharya, Labour Attache. Nepali Social Club and Oman based Nepali organizations participated and volunteered for the Program.
