11 February 2018| The Embassy of Nepal, Muscat organized a closing ceremony for “Nepal Stall” of the Muscat Festival on the 9th February 2018 evening at al-Amirat Park, Muscat. The ceremony began with lighting of the traditional oil lamp jointly by H.E. Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, Ambassador of Nepal to the Sultanate of Oman; H.E. M.K. Pathmanaathan, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Sultanate of Oman; H.E. Yu Fulong, Ambassador of China to the Sultanate of Oman; H.E. Mohammad Sultan Saif Al-Suwaidi, Ambassador of United Arab Emirates to the Sultanate of Oman followed by national anthem of the Sultanate and Nepal.
The ceremony contained of Nepali folk dances by various Nepali Communities in Oman and distribution of appreciation letters for the volunteers participating in the Nepal stall as well as token of love to the Guest Ambassadors. Mr. Bednidhi Acharya performed a folk dance “Maruni”. Mr. Bhimlal Giri performed a solo dance in the song “Budho Kisan” attired in Nepali farmer’s dress and traditional equipments for ploughing. Ms. Nanu Gurung performed one dance in song “Nepalki chori”. All the VIP Guests praised the efforts of Nepal Embassy in promoting Nepal’s tourism and culture through such participation.
At the end of the program, ?H.E. Dhakal gave vote of thanks to the Muscat Municipality for organizing such a great event and giving opportunity to the Embassy for participating. Similarly, H.E. Dhakal thanked to VIP guests for giving their valuable time to visit Nepal stall and watch Nepali cultural performance. H.E. Dhakal appreciated the efforts of the Nepali Community for making this event happen.
After conclusion of formal program, H.E. Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal briefed VIP guests about Nepal Stall, Nepali handicrafts, Nepali culture and tourism aspects. The VIP guests were served with Nepali tea and Momo.
Nepal Stall was one of the major attractions in Muscat Festival. Visitors admired Nepal’s natural beauty, Nepali handicrafts specially “khukuri” and Nepali Tea. More than 5000 visitors visited Nepali stall and enquired about Nepal and expressed their interest to visit Nepal. Hence, the participation in the festival has become one landmark activity for Nepal Embassy to promote Nepali tourism and culture.
The Embassy of Nepal would like to thank the Government of the Sultanate of Oman, Muscat Municipality, Muscat Festival Committee and all the Nepalese community and volunteers in Oman for making the event successful.
