Nepal and the Sultanate of Oman held a bilateral meeting on 27-28 January 2019 at the Ministry of Manpower, Oman to discuss the proposed Labour MOU.
A technical team of 5 members headed by the Dr Ram Prasad Ghimire, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security of Nepal arrived on 26 January at the invitation of Omani side. The officials from the Embassy of Nepal, Muscat also participated in the meeting.
Both sides discussed and exchanged their views on all articles of proposed MOU. Both the parties agreed to exchange other development and conclude MOU as soon as possible. The proposed MOU is related to promotion and development of cooperation in labour and training on the principle of mutual interests as well as securing the rights and welfare of both workers and employers pursuant to the prevailing laws of both countries.
The delegation also had an introductory tour at the Higher College of Technology and Al Seeb vocational training college of the Sultanate.
